HAVERHILL - William E. Tarr, Jr, (Bill), 95, of Bradford, MA, passed away at Lawrence General Hospital on March 29, 2023. Born in Lynn, MA on November 22, 1927, he was the oldest son of the late Dorothy and William Tarr. He was predeceased by his brother Ronnie and sister Nancy.
Bill graduated from Lynn English School as an honor roll student with the class of 1946. He joined the Army shortly thereafter and was assigned to Fort Dix, New Jersey. He served as a M.P. and went to Japan to help with the clean up after the end of World war II. On his return home, Bill attended Bentley School of Accounting in Boston, using the G.I. bill. He became a CPA and was very proud of how his life's work helped others. Bill loved playing tennis, ping pong, and poker. He enjoyed swimming, water skiing, snow skiing, and going on nature hikes. He was well read and had a keen interest in politics of the country he loved.
William is survived by his children, William "Ted" Tarr and his spouse, Helen of Western MA, Elizabeth Mullholland and her husband Irvin, of Sonoma, California, John Tarr and his wife Amy of Bradford, MA; his grandchildren, Fox and Hank Mullholland, Samantha, Hannah, Johnny and Jesse Tarr, and step grandchild, Mark Tyczynski; his great-grandson, Mason Goulart. In addition to his parents and siblings, Bill was also predeceased by his son, James B Tarr.
