GROVELAND - William J. MacLean, III, 73, of Groveland, MA passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA. Bill was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Class of 1967 and Merrimack College in North Andover, Class of 1971.
Bill was born in Lawrence, MA and was the son of William and Alice (Martin) MacLean. He leaves behind his sisters Trudy Blyth of Groveland, MA and Alicia Kasper of North Andover, MA. Bill was predeceased by his sister Susan Herbechuk.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Nancy (Champagne) MacLean as well as daughters Jennifer Bleiler and her husband David of Bristol, NH and Heather Nobrega and her husband Thomas of Nashua, NH. He also leaves his grandchildren Natalie Bleiler, Henry Bleiler, Samuel Bleiler of Bristol, NH and Connor Nobrega and Caroline Nobrega of Nashua, NH.
Bill loved all sports, especially golf, and ran a golf tournament each year for 25 years for 40 of his closest friends followed by a family after-party. He was a member of the Rocky Club in Lawrence starting in his youth when he played on the City of Lawrence baseball and basketball teams that the Rocky Club sponsored. He was a Charter Member until the Rocky Club closed its doors.
Bill got a love of singing from his mother and sang his thanks to all of the medical professionals who took care of him. The family would like to thank all of the medical professionals who cared for him through his long journey at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, Penacook Place Rehab in Haverhill, Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Haverhill, Port Medical Center in Newburyport, Ana Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, and High Pointe Place in Haverhill.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will begin Tuesday in the funeral home at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 114 Center Street, Groveland at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. For guestbook, please visit www.driscollcares.com
