HAVERHILL - William Fanaras, lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA.
He was born on May 15, 1953, son of the late William and Katherine (Methenitis) Fanaras. For over 20 years he was employed at Lucent Technologies in North Andover until his retirement. During his retirement he found joy restoring various vehicles, home improvements and connecting with his long standing neighbors and family. He always made time for others.
William was a hot rod and antique cars enthusiast. He loved restoring his 41’ Ford Tudor and his Firebird. He loved deep sea fishing and spending time with his wife, family and lifelong friends. He looked forward to breakfast with friends. He was also a passionate Patriots and Red Sox fan, as you can hear his disapproval of their performance across the house. He loved traveling with his wife and have visited many destinations throughout the country and abroad and enjoying time together at their family home, a special place they built together. His favorite pastime was spending time and playing with his many grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Vivianne Fanaras; daughter Erica Fanaras; two sons William Fanaras, III of Haverhill and Richard Alhajj and his wife Kori of Litchfield, NH; sister June Timmons and her husband Edward of Haverhill; brother Andrew Fanaras of Haverhill; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 9, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Services will be Monday in the funeral home beginning at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
