Scott Richard Penney

HAVERHILL - Scott Richard Penney, lifelong resident of Haverhill, was 64 when he passed away on March 23, 2024 with his family at his bedside at the Boca Regional Hospital in Boca Raton, FL, after a short illness.

Scott was born July 24, 1959, in Tarbrax, Scotland, son of Jeanne C. (Moses) Kelley and the late Col. Richard L. Penney, who was in the Air Force and stationed overseas for three years during the time of his birth.

Scott grew up with an older sister Dawn and a younger brother Brett in Riverside section of Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1977.

He worked for his uncle at the Davis Auto Electric in the machine shop as a mechanic in Newburyport from 1978-1979. Scott also worked at Western Electric for a number of years where his siblings, mother, grandfather and aunts worked at the time. He later worked for Crown Cork and Seal in Lawrence, MA where he met Claudine Ouellet and became management for 10 years before retiring.

Scott finally married his longtime girlfriend Claudine (Coco) Ouellet of 13 years in July of 2014,     some later years they went on a long European honeymoon.

Scott had a 1969 Mustang that he enjoyed working on himself and he just had it repainted so he could go to car shows with his buddies and show off all the work he had done to it. He also had a couple of Harley Davidson Motorcycles which he loved fixing and up painting them and going for long rides on the back roads of Haverhill into other nearby towns.

Scott bought the house that he grew up in and has transformed the house inside and out quite a few times. He was always willing to help anyone in need with his knowledge in several different trades.

Scott was quite the artist, he enjoyed painting and gave them as gifts, some of animals, people and abstract too. He enjoyed spending time in Florida with his mother during the winters and going for walks along the beach. Also enjoyed playing and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a kind heart and liked to help family and friends when he could. Scott will be greatly missed by all who knew him!

He is survived by his wife Claudine ‘Coco’ Penney of 10 years of Haverhill; son Rafe V. Penney, grandson Harrison D. Penney and Harrison’s mother Remy Collins of Haverhill; mother Jeanne Kelley of Bradford; sister Dawn LaFond and husband Steve of Atkinson, NH; brother Brett Penney and wife Danielle of Bradford; stepson Danny and husband RD and their children Everly and Elliot ­­­­­­Buckwalter of Lancaster, PA; and stepson Alex Vieweg and girlfriend Rebecca Bamford and their son Landon of Haverhill; predeceased by his son Dale S. Penney and father Col. Richard L Penney.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 12:00 to 3:00 PM. Catholic Service will begin at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to local food banks in Scott’s memory. For guestbook, visit www.driscollcares.com
