Robert Pothier, Jr. Obituary

HAVERHILL - Robert “Bob” Pothier, Jr., passed peacefully in the arms of his wife and in the presence of his mother and father, on Sunday, February 14, following a heroic battle with cancer.

Born May 23, 1968, the first of four sons to a Naval Aviator, Bob followed in his father’s footsteps and graduated from The United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, with a degree in political science and many lifelong friends. Following his service, Bob met his wife Brenda on the softball field in 1996, where he stole her position and her heart. A great love affair ensued. Bob went on to further his academic prowess by earning a master’s degree in journalism from Northeastern University and enjoyed working for Bank of America as Vice President of Interactive Design. Bob was a devoted father, masterful writer, fierce athlete, incredibly talented musician, and the most well-read person in the room. But his true opus is in the way he lived and loved.

Bob is survived by his wife of 20 years, Brenda Pothier, and sons Lucien and Julien. He leaves behind his father, Robert B. Pothier, Sr. and mother Elaine Regan, brothers Matthew Pothier and wife Carri Pothier and their children of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Christopher Pothier and wife Katherine Pothier and their children of The Dalles, Oregon, and brother Jeffrey Pothier of Warner, NH. Bob is also greatly missed by Brenda’s family, and countless nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, February 21, in Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Note to wear face coverings and social distancing measures will be in place. His family wishes to keep everyone safe, funeral service and interment will remain private. In lieu of flowers, Brenda requests that you consider furthering her initiative “Project Love” by writing someone who has had a positive impact in your life to let them know. If someone has wronged you, write it down, crumble it up and throw it away. Anger is a poison we drink, and you are too worthy to suffer. Memorial donations may be made to the scholarship fund that has been established in memory of Bob’s Godson, David Pothier Gold Medal Foundation, c/o Reading Cooperative Bank, 180 Haven Street, Reading, MA 01867 or to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. For guestbook, visit www.driscollcares.com
