Mary (Sawyer) MacLeod

HAVERHILL - Mary L. (Sawyer) MacLeod, 92, passed away on July 29, 2020, in Raleigh, NC.

Mrs. MacLeod was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on June 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Virginia E. (Gindorff) Sawyer. She worked as a secretary in Washington, D.C. before she married the late W.F. (Bill) MacLeod in 1953. Together, for nearly 60 years, they raised 5 children and lived in Michigan and New Jersey, before finally retiring in San Diego, California. She was active in the Clan MacLeod Society U.S.A. and travelled extensively throughout Europe, the U.S. and Canada.   

Survivors include her two sons Paul MacLeod of Billings, Montana and Andrew MacLeod of Sparta, Michigan; three daughters Mrs. Mark (Catherine) Kocher of Raleigh, North Carolina, Margaret MacLeod of Lakeside, California and Elizabeth MacLeod of Clavesana, Italy. She had fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 17, in St. James Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Graveside service will follow in St. James Cemetery. Mary was laid to rest in August of 2020 during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
