Lois Marion DiModica

GROVELAND - Lois Marion DiModica of Groveland, MA, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2021 in the presence of her family. Lois was born to the late Reginald and Margaret Wrightson on July 26, 1940. She married the love of her life, Michael Dennis DiModica, Sr., in the summer of 1961, celebrating 60 years together this past year. Lois is predeceased by her sister Marjorie Moore, her brother John Wrightson, and her sister-in-law and dear friend Dorothy Wrightson.

Lois’ life was marked by a deep care for other people. She had an extensive career as a nurse, beginning her journey at Winthrop Hospital Nursing School where she earned her LPN. She returned to nursing school years later to complete her RN while raising four children at home. For over 30 years, she was a passionate employee at Pilgrim Rehab where she cared for many patients and their families. She was the Staff Development and Infectious Disease nurse at Pilgrim prior to retirement, and later used her knowledge as a consultant in nursing homes and for PC Healthcare.

Lois was deeply involved her community on the Northshore. She attended and taught Sunday school at Groveland Congregational Church. She was a beloved member of the Groveland Nurses’ Club for over 40 years and participated with her husband in the Groveland chapter of the U.S. Junior Chamber. She enjoyed many summers at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester with friends and family and her occasional visit to the casino. She also loved to go on cruises with old friends, often making new, life-long friends along her various travels. Gardening and reading were two of her passions. Her grandchildren often supplied her with books to read, and they believe she read about 100 books in the past year.

Lois is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her four wonderful children, Marjorie Squire and husband Jonathan, Michelle DiModica, Michael DiModica, Jr. and wife Laurie, and Melissa Niziak and husband James. She was the proud grandmother to six beautiful grandchildren, Amanda Adams, Justin Niziak, Michael DiModica, Victoria Squire, Catherine Niziak, and William DiModica. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew Jo-Anne Bartlett, John Moore, Wendy Kraus, and Whitney Warren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial Service beginning at 6:30 PM.
