HAVERHILL - Lillian A. (Hayes) Levasseur, 85, lifelong Haverhill resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
She was born in Haverhill on September 5, 1935, daughter of Daniel and Katherine Hayes.
Lillian was the cherished wife of Norman S. Levasseur, Sr. and shared many years of loving marriage until his passing. They raised their family in Haverhill and she enjoyed being a wife and mother. When the kids were old enough, Lillian worked for Market Basket Stores in Haverhill at Westgate and Riverside Plazas for 35 years and loved being with the public and her fellow co-workers. Her and Norman’s activities included traveling in group tours, Irish music and following Boston sports teams. Most of all she was a woman deep faith and a devout Catholic who put her family first and she will be greatly missed.
Her surviving family members include her children Donna Jarvis and husband Michael of Haverhill and Norman Levasseur and wife Rose of Lowell; adored grandchildren Daniel Jarvis, Donald Jarvis, Katherine (Jarvis) Peabody and husband Nathaniel and Michael Jarvis, Jr.; great-grandchildren Lyndsay Bowen, Joseph Peabody and Abigail Peabody; sister Helen Dempsey; sister-in law Mickey Hayes; many nieces and nephews; deceased family members in addition to her husband Norman, include her daughter Deborah Levasseur; siblings Mary Pillsbury, Edward Hayes, Austin Hayes, Joseph Hayes, Frank Hayes, Richard Hayes, Catherine Hayes, Thomas Camillus and Dennis Hayes.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Services will begin on Monday morning in the funeral home at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
