HAVERHILL - Leonard Douglas, 90, of Haverhill passed away on April 20, 2020 at HIgh Pointe House in Haverhill.
Born as Leonard Rosen in Brooklyn, NY, in 1929, he moved to Haverhill in 1992 after a career working in the Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of the Navy at several locations across the country.
Len is survived by his wife, Kathy Douglas of Haverhill; her two children, Sherlene Brown of Boxford and Kevin Chapman and his wife, Jennifer Russell, of Plymouth; five grandchildren, Taryne Brown of Watertown, Amanda Dollard of Lynnfield, Tyler Brown of Haverhill, and Cadence and Poesy Chapman of Plymouth; and a great-grandson, Caleb Dollard of Lynnfield. He is also survived by a niece, Tami Byrne, of Long Island and a nephew, Seth Miller, of New Jersey.
Len graduated from City College of New York in 1952. In a long career he worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy and for the Small Business Administration into the 1980s. After that he lived in Salem, Mass. and worked as a business counselor for the Small Business Development Center at Salem State College and UMass, Lowell.
He was active in Haverhill politics for the last 25 years of his life serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals for a time. He was also active for many years in the College of Older Learners program at Northern Essex Community College.
