LAWRENCE - Joseph E. Therrien, 88, lifelong resident of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2020, surrounded by his family.
Joe was born in Lawrence on October 30, 1931, one of six children of Louis and Maria (Marquis) Therrien. He was raised in Lawrence and attended Central Catholic High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served honorably during the Korean War. When he returned home, he married the love of his life, Theresa (LaBranche) Therrien, and they shared 47 years of loving marriage until her passing in 2004. They began their family together raising five children in Lawrence. Theresa tended to the home and Joe worked for UFP Technologies in Georgetown until his retirement. Family was everything for Joe. From umpiring his kids games and never missing one including in adulthood when they played in leagues. He enjoyed the beach, nice weather, spending time in Florida and he was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Joe volunteered with various Lawrence Veterans groups and he was a devout Catholic and parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church in So. Lawrence. Most of all, he adored his wife and loved his family.
His surviving family members include his children Michael Therrien and wife Sherrie of Milford, NH, Mark Therrien and wife Lori of Amesbury, David Therrien and wife Lisa of Methuen, Laurie Dunlap and husband Christopher of Derry, NH and Sheila Riddle and husband Mark of Haverhill; cherished grandchildren Jared Therrien, Katye Strandberg, late Evan Therrien, Ethan Therrien, Aaron Therrien, Ryan Therrien, Jordan Dunlap, Jason Dunlap, Joseph Dunlap, Emily Riddle and Taylor Riddle; great-grandchildren Gennaro, Braylee, Paityn, Maveric, Camren, Parker, Clayton, Breanna and Bradley; siblings Dot Madden and Ray Therrien; and several nieces and nephews.
