John (Jack) W. McColley

HAVERHILL – John (Jack) W. McColley, 84, of Bradford, MA, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by his family at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, MA.

Jack was born on March 7, 1938 in Lawrence, MA, the son of the late John J. and Helen E. (Burbine) McColley.

He was a graduate of Central High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Merrimack College with a concentration in Economics. Jack worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for 35 years. After retiring, he worked at Far Corners Golf Course for 20 years.

He enjoyed many winters spending time at Cocoa Beach, FL with his wife and siblings. He loved the beach, daily walks through the streets of Haverhill and reading books. He was an avid fan of all the local Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox. Most of all he was devoted to his family and his faith. Jack was an active member of Sacred Hearts Parish, where he volunteered a great deal of his time. He was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul, a Eucharistic Minister, an altar server, and a bean counter. He loved all sports and was a great athlete in his time. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Donna J. (Callahan) McColley, his four children and their spouses Michael P. and Susan L. McColley, John T. and Patricia F. McColley, Jeanne A. and Robert E. Corliss and Thomas J. McColley; siblings Joe and Cynthia McColley, Helen (McColley) Riccio, Maureen and Bill Buckley, Jimmy and Jean McColley and Rita and Larry Marcy; brother in-law Tim Callahan and late wife Linda; also eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services beginning Wednesday in the funeral home at 9:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Haverhill at 10:00 AM. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
