HAVERHILL - Gary Porter, beloved father, fiancé, son and brother died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was 44 years old.
A kind heart and willingness to help those in need, Gary was born Gary Joseph Porter on March 5, 1977 in Medford, MA to parents Harry Porter and Diane Porter (Funicella). After Minuteman Technical High School, Gary worked as an elevator mechanic and was a member of the IEUC Local 4.
Gary is survived by his two children, Kingston and Kinley, along with his fiancé Stephanie Avey and her son Ethan Holmes. He leaves behind his parents Harry and Diane Porter, sister Kristen Pritchett and her family, and loving aunts and uncles James and Margaret Porter, Janet Gillis, Elaine Green and recently deceased husband, John Green, and Stephen Funicella.
From a young age Gary, was drawn to mechanical things and could often be found taking apart clocks and radios and putting them back together as new. He enjoyed flying remote controlled planes, helicopters, and drones. Later in life Gary was known to build computers from scratch and was a master mechanic. Gary passed away surrounded by loving family. He will be dearly missed by his family.
