David Marshall Obituary

HAVERHILL - David S. Marshall, 45, of Haverhill, MA died unexpectedly on June 3rd after a fierce and courageous battle with cancer. He was a beast through his entire treatment and even up until the very end as a hospice patient. All who knew him are shocked and deeply saddened but were also in awe of his strength and outlook on life during the past three years. He was at peace with his diagnosis and ultimate fate, and even though he was dying, he taught us how to live. He told us that “worrying doesn’t change anything” and that “God has a plan, and it’s not for me to question.”

David was born to George and Joy Marshall in Winchester, MA and attended school in Woburn, MA. He met his future wife, Ann, when they were teens; but they both knew she wouldn’t give him the time of day. They reconnected several years ago at the place where they originally met. Ann came to her senses right then and there, and they married a year later. They didn’t have any children but had several much-loved pets… except for Ann’s parrot which Dave wasn’t a fan of. The feeling was mutual for the parrot.

David was a beloved husband and son, devoted sibling and uncle, loyal friend and employee, and an extraordinary - but humble - competitor and champion on the range. He loved to cook; appreciated good food and wine; had an extensive and eclectic playlist; was a plethora of random knowledge; and knew every single street on the planet. He frequently conducted the “AC & Air Compressor Tour of New England” while driving with his wife as he pointed out his crane jobs by saying, “See that AC unit over there? I did that.”

He was loved by all who knew him especially kids and pets (he said it was because of his goatee). He was eager to help, quick to smile, and was the master of inappropriate comments. His humor, advice and kind-heartedness will be greatly missed; but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

David is survived by his adoring wife, Ann Marshall; his Mother, Joy Marshall; his twin sister, Amanda Marshall; his older sister, Jennifer Marshall Grossi; his younger brother, Calvin Marshall, and wife, Lea Ballard; nieces and nephews: Bobby, Kristen, Joshua, Violet, Luke, Jeffrey, Tyler and his wife, Mykayla. He was preceded in death by his father, George Marshall.

This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life. - Psalms 119:50
