Catherine (Emerson) DeSando

HAVERHILL - Catherine (Kay) A. DeSando, 87, lifelong resident of Haverhill passed away on Monday evening, August 23, 2021 after a brief stay at the Care Dimensions (Lincoln House) in Lincoln, MA.

Kay was born in Haverhill on January 12, 1934. She was brought up by her grandparents Herbert and Marie Emerson. Her mother Catherine A. Sullivan died at childbirth and her grandparents brought her up to be the loving person she became. She was educated at Haverhill High School. After graduation Kay met the love of her life Bob DeSando. As soon as he came home from the Korean War they got married. They were married 60 years and lived in the same house for all those years. She worked at Western Electric /Lucent Technologies for many years. After her retirement she enjoyed gardening and going to craft fairs and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her surviving family members include her loving daughter Laurie A. LaPlante and her husband Larry and her grandchildren Corey R. LaPlante and Casey A. LaPlante and her fiance Ryan Strom. She adored her grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Bob and her two sons Robbie and Jeffrey. She also leaves behind a wonderful caregiver Olga Garcia who she cared deeply for.
