HAVERHILL - Camilla Louise (Chuilli) Cushing passed away peacefully on January 25, 2023, at home with her husband and family present.
She was born on May 9, 1925, in East Millinocket, Maine to Cesare and Stella Chiulli, both immigrants from Italy. Camilla graduated from Schenck High School in her hometown excelling in math. Then she moved to Portland, Maine where she met her husband, Donald, and they married on April 29, 1950. Don and Cam moved to New Jersey, where she had her three children, eventually re-settling in Massachusetts. There Cam’s heart was captured by Christ, and her faith remained the most integral part of her life. For years she helped others struggling with life’s problems drawing on her own past, and her trust in God. Cam was a person of prayer, whose mission and purpose in life were carried out by praying for her family, friends, any in need, and the world.
She and Don celebrated 72 years of marriage together, helping her children and grandchildren grow into adulthood. She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved table games, especially bridge, Scrabble, and Oh Heck! Of her cooking, her pizza pane and Italian chicken were most loved. She is predeceased by her sister Nina Pollak, brother Antonio Chuilli; and survived by her husband Donald, her children Donna Wells, and her husband Rich, Gary and his wife Ellen, and Stephen and his wife Sharon; six grandchildren, Joel Nice and Rachel Nice, Ethan Cushing and Lauren (Cushing) Minor, Julia and Timothy Cushing, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family will greatly remember her lasting legacy of love, caring, and constant prayers. She will be greatly missed but is joyfully celebrating today.
