Blair Taylor Obituary

HAVERHILL - Blair Edward Taylor, 75, of Bradford, MA was surrounded by loved ones when he passed away peacefully at home following a long illness on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth O’Donnell and his cherished daughter, Rebecca LaPlante and her husband, Michael of Andover, MA.

The oldest child of George and Ruth Taylor, Blair is also survived by his siblings, Karen Taylor-White and her husband, Chuck of Las Cruces, NM, Scott Taylor of Everett, MA, Glenn Taylor of Peabody, MA, Joy O’Donnell of Centreville, VA, Lee Taylor and his wife, Mary of Owings Mills, MD, and Gail Taylor of PA. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, especially Edward and Denise Peddle of Reading, MA.

A retired Army Captain, Blair proudly served his country, enlisting in the US Army in 1966 at the age of 18. His military career spanned three decades where he served in the US Army, the US Army Reserves, and the Massachusetts National Guard.

As a decorated war veteran, Blair served among many posts, the most significant being his two tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded multiple Purple Hearts for injuries sustained during heroic acts.

Blair was proud of his Scottish and Irish heritage and poured himself into tracing back many generations of his family tree. He loved to go out to eat and get together with family and friends. His unique sense of humor certainly kept everyone on their toes. An avid Boston sports fan, Blair enjoyed the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics. Blair spent a lot time tinkering with various projects including those during his career as an electrician. He was a lifelong student of history, an explorer and traveler, and a collector of all things.

Blair’s family would like to extend special thanks to all of his caretakers for all of their assistance and compassion throughout his illness.
